Rob joined Strip Tinning in December 2023, bringing with him a wealth of experience in world-class vehicle engineering development, including eight years in China assisting the emergence of their Electric-Vehicle industry.
From 2012 to 2023, Rob was a key figure at Tata Technologies, a global automotive engineering services provider. He made significant contributions developing products such as Nio ES8, Vinfast VF8, and Discovery Sport. His leadership and technical expertise were recognised through his successive roles as Chief Engineer, Technical Director, and General Manager at Tata Technologies. Rob was instrumental in establishing Tata’s China engineering capability and growing that business 10-fold.
Previously, Rob was an Engineering Manager at Aston Martin, engineering parts, including glazing, on DB9, DBS and V8 Vantage.
Rob’s career began with various engineering positions at renowned automotive companies, including Nissan, Ford, Renault, and LDV.
Notably, he won a Henry Ford Technology Award, contributing to many client patents and inventing the “Bay-o-Bolt” enabler for Nio’s Battery Swapping technology.
